About
Hi, I’m Dale.
Mortgage Professional in Calgary and Life Insurance Advisor in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario.
I write for Canadian homeowners, first-time buyers and families who want to understand how mortgages, credit and insurance affect their plans. My focus includes the Smith Manoeuvre™, credit decisions and practical financial awareness.
A mortgage can shape far more than a monthly payment. I created this publication to explain the decisions around borrowing, credit, tax-deductible investment loan interest and financial protection in plain language, so readers can see how each choice may affect the years ahead before they sign paperwork or change course.
What I cover
Mortgages in context
You’ll find education on the Smith Manoeuvre™, mortgage planning, credit and life insurance. I also look at questions such as combining a TFSA and FHSA for a first home, understanding Bank of Canada rate decisions, and deciding where insurance fits alongside a mortgage. Each topic begins with the numbers and rules that apply in Canada.
Who it serves
For Canadians planning ahead
I write for first-time buyers, current homeowners and families building toward retirement or other long-term goals. My mortgage work serves clients across Alberta from Calgary, while my life insurance work extends to Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. A homeowner reviewing a renewal and a first-time buyer comparing an FHSA with a TFSA need different information, even when both are trying to make a sound decision.
My approach
Awareness before action
I’ve worked in the mortgage industry since 2003 and hold Smith Manoeuvre Certified and Equifax Credit Certified designations as of 2026. I start by helping readers understand their present mortgage, credit and protection choices, then explain the available strategy and its mechanics without treating a financial product as the answer by itself.
